چکیده

UML is a standard language for specifying, visualizing, constructing, and documenting the artifacts of software systems. UML was created by Object Management Group (OMG) and UML 1.0 specification draft was proposed to the OMG in January 1997. OMG is continuously putting effort to make a truly industry standard.  UML stands for Unified Modelling Language.  UML is different from the other common programming languages like C++, Java, COBOL etc.  UML is a pictorial language used to make software blue prints. So UML can be described as a general purpose visual modelling language to visualize, specify, construct and document software system. Although UML is generally used to model software systems but it is not limited within this boundary. It is also used to model non software systems as well like process flow in a manufacturing unit etc. UML is not a programming language but tools can be used to generate code in various languages using UML diagrams. UML has a direct relation with object oriented analysis and design. After some standardization UML is become an OMG (Object Management Group) standard. A picture is worth a thousand words, this absolutely fits while discussing about UML. Object oriented concepts were introduced much earlier than UML. So at that time there were no standard methodologies to organize and consolidate the object oriented development. At that point of time UML came into picture. There are a number of goals for developing UML but the most important is to define some general purpose modelling language which all modelers can use and also it needs to be made simple to understand and use. UML diagrams are not only made for developers but also for business users, common people and anybody interested to understand the system. The system can be a software or non software. So it must be clear that UML is not a development method rather it accompanies with processes to make a successful system. At the conclusion the goal of UML can be defined as a simple modelling mechanism to model all possible practical systems in today.s complex environment. To understand conceptual model of UML first we need to clarify What is a conceptual model? and Why a conceptual model is at all required?

Synchronous vs. Asynchronous Tutorials: Factors Aff ecting Students’ Preferences and Choices

Th is study aimed to determine the factors that aff ect students’ preferences regarding tutorial modes. A learning-habit inclinations questionnaire (LHIQ) was constructed and administered to 288 students. Factor analysis revealed four factors: “time management,” “ease of access” to learning materials, “positive aspects of interaction,” and “negative aspects of interaction.” Seven satellite-base...

Peer-assisted learning: filling the gaps in basic science education for preclinical medical students.

In contrast to peer-assisted learning (PAL) in clinical training, there is scant literature on the efficacy of PAL during basic medical sciences teaching for preclinical students. A group of senior medical students aimed to design and deliver clinically oriented small-group tutorials after every module in the preclinical curriculum at a United Kingdom medical school. Twenty tutorials were deliv...

Students and tutors' social representations of assessment in problem-based learning tutorials supporting change

BACKGROUND Medical programmes that implement problem-based learning (PBL) face several challenges when introducing this innovative learning method. PBL relies on small group as the foundation of study, and tutors facilitate learning by guiding the process rather than teaching the group. One of the major challenges is the use of strategies to assess students working in small groups. Self-, peer-...

Learning styles and student perceptions of the use of interactive online tutorials

This study examined the effects of learning styles on learner perceptions of the use of interactive online tutorials. Learners were categorised into five learning style categories and four learning modalities. The responses to a questionnaire with four survey dimensions were analysed in order to ascertain differences based on learning styles, gender and class standing. Researchers investigated ...

Facilitating Spatial Task Learning in Interactive Multimedia Environments While Accounting for Individual Differences and Task Difficulty

Two experiments examined the effects of interactive tutorial features (compared to “passive” features) on learning spatial tasks, an area seldom explored in interactivity research. Experiment 1 results indicated that for simple spatial tasks, interactive tutorials hindered learning for participants of higher spatial ability but improved learning for lower-ability participants. This interaction ...
